Getting patients out of pain and on the healing path is, unsurprisingly, a top priority at our practice. One of the most effective modalities to achieve that is laser therapy. This treatment uses low-level light to stimulate the body’s natural healing process. By targeting affected areas with wavelengths between 600-1000 nanometers, it boosts circulation, reduces inflammation, and supports tissue repair—all without causing heat or damage.
But what about medication? According to Dr. Erik Camac, “It’s better than an opioid or an NSAID, in my opinion, because NSAIDs can cause reactions. They can also be bad for the stomach lining and the digestive system. If taken too frequently, opioids can also cause work coordination, sedation, mood swings, depression, anxiety, and a dependence on drugs.” Laser therapy, on the other hand, is conservative and has very few side effects.
What to Expect From a Session
Quick and efficient, each session lasts just 8-15 minutes and may involve a gentle warming sensation. Many patients experience relief within just a few visits.
“Our standard care plan is six visits. Most people feel relief between one and three visits,” says Dr. Camac.
The laser activates the mitochondria—your cells’ energy centers—which accelerate healing over time.
Who Is It Ideal For?
While patients of all ages can benefit from laser therapy, those with recent injuries tend to respond the quickest. Laser therapy is particularly helpful for athletes, post-accident recovery, or anyone seeking a natural, non-invasive solution to their pain.
Dr. Camac is currently treating a woman with shoulder pain after a car accident, and she experienced incredible relief. Another patient with lateral epicondylitis was totally pain-free after just three visits!
Boosting Results With Chiropractic Care
To enhance healing results, we often pair laser therapy with chiropractic care. Doing so helps restore function, reduce discomfort, and allow you to return to your routine faster.
