First State Health & Wellness's Dr Jones

My philosophy is simple: when we create the right environment for the body, mind, and spirit to thrive, we give ourselves the greatest opportunity for health, healing, and longevity.”Dr. Brian Jones

I have spent my career exploring the many factors that influence human health—from education, fitness, nutrition, and natural health to environmental health, brain health, and wellness. Referred to as Complementary or Integrative Health Approaches vs. “Alternative” and heavily utilized in Europe and the U.S. West Coast, I bring together knowledge from these multiple disciplines to look at the whole person and the many interactions that can contribute to both illness and healing. This approach utilizes both traditional and integrative methods.

My personal journey has also shaped the way I practice. Having faced significant health challenges of my own, including Lyme disease and cancer, I have experienced firsthand the importance of understanding not only what is happening in the body, but also the underlying factors that may contribute to chronic health challenges. Since entering natural health practice in 2005, I have worked with patients and practitioners in Delaware, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and California, focusing on integrative approaches to common and chronic health conditions. I am particularly interested in brain health, cognitive function, neurofeedback, and natural approaches that support the body’s ability to heal and function at its best.

I am a native Delawarean, with deep family roots in the Lewes area. My Welsh ancestors arrived in Lewes in 1830, and my family has farmed in Delaware and Maryland ever since. Outside of my professional work, I enjoy spending time with my family, surfing, reading, and public speaking. I live in the Salisbury area with my wife, Ellen Cook, who is a therapist. I am pleased to be returning to First State Health & Wellness, where I previously practiced in Rehoboth Beach from 2008-2010, and look forward to serving patients through the DelMarVa Brain & Longevity Center.

A Lifetime of Education, Teaching & Environmental Health

In addition to my clinical work, I have spent decades as an educator, business owner, and advocate for healthier environments. I have taught at the high school level and led college, continuing education, personal health, and environmental seminars. Much of this work has focused on helping organizations transition away from pesticides and toward more natural approaches to managing soils, landscapes, athletic fields, golf courses, and zoos.

For more than 45 years, I have owned and operated Natural Gardens & Lawns, Inc. in the Philadelphia area, where I have worked extensively with natural soil and environmental health models, including projects with Pennsylvania and Ohio Amish communities. I also hosted my own health and fitness television program on ABC-TV in Philadelphia.

I am now bringing these varied experiences together at First State Health & Wellness as we launch the DelMarVa Brain & Longevity Center in Lewes. My goal is to help patients better understand the factors affecting their health and provide thoughtful, integrative approaches designed to support brain health, cognitive function, overall wellness, and longevity to assist the body and brain in doing what it already knows how to do.
